Performance is your reality. Forget everything else.

Life Has no Rehearsals

You may remember a few weeks ago I posted some images of a project I took part in with artist and performer Anat Ben-David for her European tour with Stereo Total.

There's recently been a rather positive review of the tour on Swedish Radio 'Min Radio - Gimme Indie'.
Unfortunately I cannot translate Swedish so here is a quote from Vice Magazine and a rather Natty photo of Anat wearing my dress to go with.

Make sure you check out a few pages of Anat's website (link below), it's really a peak of creativity.

"Ben-David is part of an endangered species of true Renaissance artists, educated from a young age as dancer and painter in the UK and Israel, growing up to become a mover and shaker in Jerusalems underground scene, then choosing performance art as a weapon of mass distraction incorporating and integrating video, theatre and plastic art into a gesamtkunstwerk that challenged audiences and peers in a scene too tiny and puny for her artistic vision."

Everybody's Looking For a Secret...

What do you get when you ask members of the public to decorate postcards with a deep dark secret, and anonymously snd it in to a blog?
Worldwide phenomenon 'Post Secret' that's what...

It began on our very own Blogspot! Starting as a social experiment by creator Frank Warren in 2005, Post Secret is a lovely selection of handmade postcards - as revealing as they are creative.
The temperament is very emotional and a little depressive (These are never previously revealed secrets after all...), but once you get past the initial shock it is genuinely uplifting and is a beautiful comment on the human Physche.

Including "I mastubate with my mum's electric toothbrush"

"My boyfriend dared me to kiss a girl. I left him for her and I've never been happier"

and "I think I know in my heart, I'l never make it".

There is quite a mixture of thoughts and dreams.
Take a look at some of my favourites...

Ruby Ruby Ruby Ruuubyyy!!

Lalalalalalaaaaa!

So after the show last night at Diu Nightclub I got a chance to take a few photos of the show's Art Director - the stunning Ruby Slate Balthazar.

Welcome to Tokyo Express Children...

Welcome to Tokyo Express Children

Now take a seat

Relax

Keep your eyes open at all times,

As I am taking you on a ride that will make you either face your fears and look the Magic in its eyes

Or will lt the fear eat you alive

And this will all just be a scary dream..

The scene was set by two beautiful topless male models holding torches and acting as gatekeepers.
The show began with a Japanese myth reading, acted out by Japanese model Tsukasa Abe (Firstly in Japanese then in English - what a talented fellow!), and was followed by the sinister sounds of children's screams and laughter...

Board the train children...

The audience was then treated to eccentrically attired models dancing down the catwalk - playing and laughing.
A vivid air of sinister fun filled the club.
This was not a show the Diu clientelle were used to seeing...
Music broke out and the models began to tear up the runway in single file - Japanese stylee. Reaching a climax as the Mythological Evil Witch screaming at the end.
This 15 minute presentation was followed by a live photoshoot with some incredibly beautiful Jewellery by Madam Moi and shot by the incredible fashion photographers Vipan Grewal and Kentaro Tsuda.
Set in some of Diu's amazing back rooms complete with lasers, smoke machines and blue piped lighting (hence the abundance of blue photos!) this was quite a sight to behold.
After the event the drinks were flowing, the models were dancing, and there was card-swapping a-plenty.
All making for a crazy, eccentric, amazing one of a kind night, as always delivered by the Fashionaires!

This post isa little snippet of what goes on backstage to prepare a show like this.
We rocked up at 5.30 in order to prepare and rehearse for a show that eventually started at 11.45pm! With many music rehearsals completed the models headed to our hugely talented hair and make up teams who then proceeded to turn the girls into living dolls - Take a peek!

It's More than Just a fashion show - it's a performance

It's Showtime!

'Tokyo Express' Show tonight!!!

At Diu nightclub, Soho, - 12-13 Greek Street. Door open 10, show starts 11.

This is a performance - I had Oliver of the Fashionaires calling me at midnight last night just out of the recording studio with Ruby after 16 hours recording the soundtrack!

We have a rehearsal at Diu in a few hours and I have just finished painting the shoes. I'm pretty pleased with them I must say! (See above)

Getting Nervous now! Hope it all goes to plan...
The feedback I've been getting from Oliver (going to be featured in Shout Magazine? Nice!) and the storyline I've been sent from Ruby sounds absolutely amazing. This is like nothing I have seen before - you're going to be surprised...
